Why Is My Practice Not Growing: 6 Business Leaks That Are Costing You Patients and Revenue
Your practice isn’t growing the way you expected, and you can’t quite figure out why. That’s actually a useful place to start. After working with hundreds of practitioners who came to me asking that exact question, here’s what I almost always find: a specific business leak somewhere – and it has almost nothing to do with clinical training.
The schedule has holes you can’t explain. Income is inconsistent. New patients say “I need to think about it” and disappear. So you revert to what feels safe – another certification, another course, one more diploma on the wall. The learning feels productive. But it doesn’t fix a business structure problem.
There are six specific places a practice bleeds patients and revenue. One of them is almost certainly where you’re stuck. Watch the episode below to find out which one it is – and what the fix actually looks like.

Why Is My Practice Not Growing Even Though My Clinical Skills Are Strong?
Because your business has a leak. Clinical training and practice-building are two completely different skill sets, and nobody explains that when you finish your program. You can be exceptional at what you do clinically and still have a consultation process that doesn’t convert, a follow-up system that doesn’t exist, and a fee-for-service model that leaves patients deciding one appointment at a time whether to come back.
What Are the Most Common Business Leaks in a Private Practice?
There are six. Visibility – not enough of the right people know you exist. Messaging – people find you but can’t figure out what you actually do. Conversion – they meet with you but don’t say yes. Offer structure – you’re selling individual appointments when you should be selling a process. Follow-up – the patient says “I’ll think about it,” and you let it drop. Retention – they got results and disappeared because nobody told them what came next.
How Do I Find Out Which Leak Is Mine?
Start by asking where people are dropping off. Are they not finding you at all? Are they finding you but not scheduling? Are they meeting with you but not saying yes? Are they starting care and then disappearing? Each answer points to a different leak. The Practice Vitals Checkup is a 10-question assessment that will tell you your specific leak and give you a practice health score.
